Relaxing time in Hida machiya "Sou"

We went to Hida Takayama area and stayed in "Sou", machiya (traditional japanese house) type inn in two-day and one-night tour starting on July 30th. Soon after we arrived at Takayama station, it started to rain. But thanks to pick up service by the machiya manager, we could comfortably arrive "Sou" for check-in.
Sou has 2 beds but if you ask beforehand, they can prepare futons depending on how many persons to stay. A little after, we went to the city center for sightseeing.

We ate famous "Takayama Soba (buckwheat noodle)" that was recommended by local people.
It was big volume cold ramen with al dente needles. We ate them all !

In the evening, we went to the city center again to find a restaurant for dinner. We chose "Kitchen Hida" recommended by the local people and ate steaks of renowned Hida Beef. We enjoyed the beef to the fullest  ! The restaurant was full with local people at that night. Also that period was in the midst of radioactive straw issue but I saw a board saying that the restaurant only offer inspected beef.  What a relief !Hida is also famous with ham and beef-curry. Why don't you try them by yourself !

Then we walked around the city.

Since most of shops were already closed, we enjoyed quietness of  traditional streets which were not changed for a long time.

Next morning, after we slept well as if we were at our home, breakfast time ---. We were free to choose where to eat breakfast so we decided to walk to a restaurant in front of Jinya early-morning bazaar. It took only 15 minutes to get there. That was typical Japanese breakfast !! We had famous dish called Hoba miso (miso on dried leaf called Hoba)  by mixing rice with miso and roasting it on Hoba leaf. Very tasty ! After the beautiful breakfast we went to Miyagawa morning bazaar before going back to the machiya to see many kinds of food stalls and cheerful shop keepers, usually elderly women.

In the inn, the manager generously prepared ceremonial tea

and sweets for us. We had a long chat on Takayama ---.
